Who is the Dalai Lama, Nobel Peace Prize?

The Dalai Lama is the best incarnation in Tibet in connection with Buddhism. This 14th Dalai Lama won the Peace Prize Nobel on October 5, 1989, by his visions of non-violence and wants to have peace around the world.

Who is he and did he win the Nobel Peace Prize?

Known as a spiritual guide for his followers, he was also known as a politician, a chief of government from the 5th Dalai-Lama. Nowadays, it's the 14thDalai-Lama who travels the world; actually it's his messages, principally messages of peace that travels.

A historical person

Born on July 6, 1935, in the Popular Republic of China, Tenzin Gyatso (his real name) was nominated for being the 14th Dalai Lama in 1950, a month after China's attack in Tibet. 9 years later, he went to exile in India to build the Tibetan government into exile.

Then, he gets both the titles of religious and government chiefs. By his exemplar behavior, he could free Tibet with a strategy based on tolerance and mutual respect. That's why he got the award in 1989.Even during his speech, he called for tolerance and affirmed the need of the conversation with China.

A visionary person

The Dalai Lama is a visionary person, a character which is reflected by his speeches and the way he exposes his ideas. As a boy, his village was attacked by Mao's China. Then, they were forced to quit Tibet and make other followers of Buddhism incarnated by the Dalai-Lama.

This event affected him because when he was appointed to be the 14th Dalai-Lama, his speeches were about the abolition of violence, and still remain so.

A compassionate person

As D. Goleman, an American psychologist who works about emotional intelligence said, the Dalai Lama is the best example of compassion. Actually, he said how much a compassionate person as the Dalai Lama is a best example. He added that the more you are compassionate the higher your emotional intelligence is.

By adopting this way of life of compassion, he is also recognized as the Bodhisattva of compassion, which means who is able to reach nirvana (heaven, paradise,…) but prefers delaying it because of others' suffering.

A man with commitment

He said that he has 3 commitments but the most important is the first one. Actually, he gives importance to human values and the heart's qualities. He is convinced that men are endowed with humanity which helps everyone to get compassion for himself/herself and for others. He said that by this way, people can be happy and get inner peace.
